Environmental Consultant

Environmental Consultant

Location: Northern Nevada (Hybrid)
Type: Full-time | ~5-7 Years Experience

About the Role

We’re hiring an Environmental Consultant to contribute to complex environmental projects for mining clients in the Western U.S.

This is a technical contributor role focused on executing permitting and compliance programs, coordinating with subcontractors, and delivering high-quality work independently. You’ll serve as a key technical resource on environmental projects, managing your own deliverables and collaborating closely with clients and senior staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Project Management: Manage and execute multi-disciplinary projects involving permitting, compliance, and environmental planning.
  • Independent Execution: Work autonomously on assigned projects, manage your own deadlines, and coordinate effectively with senior staff and clients.
  • Subcontractor Oversight: Assist in coordinating biologists, drillers, mining engineers, surveyors, and other vendors on behalf of clients.
  • Technical Writing: Prepare NEPA, PoOs, NOIs, SWPPPs, reclamation plans, and compliance documentation.
  • Agency Coordination: Interface with federal, state, and local agencies (Nevada, Arizona, Idaho experience preferred).
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to technical scoping and proposal writing for new projects.
  • Field Presence: Occasionally conduct field visits for site assessments, data collection, and compliance monitoring as project needs require.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
  • Experience: 5-7 years in environmental consulting in the mining industry, with demonstrated experience in project execution and regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Depth: Proven expertise in regulatory compliance and permitting (e.g., NEPA, NDEP, BLM, USFS). Experience in Nevada is preferred but not required.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with senior staff, clients, and subcontractors across concurrent projects.
  • Work Style: Organized, self-directed, confident communicator, and reliable under pressure.
  • Location: Must live in Northern Nevada or be willing to relocate upon hire.

What Makes This Role Different

  • Ownership without Bureaucracy: You’ll own your projects and deliverables, not just execute tasks. We give you autonomy and support.
  • Flexibility: Work from office and home, with required weekly in-person collaboration.
  • Balanced Culture: We offer true flexibility – whether you’re heading to a dentist appointment or taking time for a personal commitment, we trust you to manage your time. While we don’t micromanage your hours, we do value general availability during standard business hours (8–5) to support collaboration, meetings, and team responsiveness.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience, with performance-based bonus potential.
  • Health: Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with four percent company match.
  • Time Off: Flexible paid time off, structured around meeting project commitments and deliverables.
  • Culture: Flexible, self-driven, no-nonsense work environment with real respect for your time.
